“To maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen, in the interests of community welfare and existence”. Sir Robert Peel (1829)
The WOODSTOCK POLICE SERVICE is committed to working in partnership with all members of our community to ensure our citizens enjoy a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment to live, work and play in. The most effective way to accomplish this goal is to accept community safety and crime prevention as being “joint responsibilities” of both the Woodstock Police Service and our citizens. With the public’s support and assistance, our police officers can achieve remarkable success in preventing many crimes from occurring in the first place and solving many more of the crimes that may still occur within our community. The key element required for this success is to establish an authentic “police-community partnership”.
“It is truly a privilege to serve the citizens of the City of Woodstock as your Chief of Police. I am extremely excited and proud to meet the policing challenges of this community with the dedicated men and women of the Woodstock Police Service and the great citizens of our city. Together we will ‘move mountains' in improving community safety.”
