General Information

Civilian careers with the Woodstock Police Service provide an opportunity to contribute to public safety in a dynamic and meaningful way. Positions may include:

Communications and Dispatchers – handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers and fire services, and providing real-time operational support.

Records Clerks and Front Desk Staff – assisting members of the public, processing reports, and providing administrative support with a high level of attention to detail.

Administrative and Technical Roles – supporting information technology, finance, data management, and community programs that strengthen public trust.

Requirements

To be considered for civilian employment, applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Have a Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent) — relevant post-secondary education is an asset
  • Possess strong communication, multitasking, and computer skills
  • Be able to work in a confidential environment and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Pass a background investigation and reference check

Depending on the position, additional testing such as skill assessments, data entry evaluations, or psychological testing may be required.

Recruitment Stages

  1. Application Submission
    Complete the Online Application Form and attach all required documents (resume, cover letter, and references).
  2. Screening and Shortlisting
    Applications are reviewed for qualifications and experience.
  3. Interview Process
    Selected candidates will be invited to a panel interview.
  4. Testing (if applicable)
    Skills-based or suitability testing may be required for certain roles such as communications.
  5. Background Investigation
    A security clearance and reference check will be completed.
  6. Conditional Offer of Employment
    Successful candidates will be issued a conditional offer pending final clearances.
