Under Ontario’s Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), you have the right to request access to records held by the Woodstock Police Service, or to request a correction to your personal information if you believe it is inaccurate.
MFIPPA also ensures that we protect all personal information in our records. We can only release information as permitted by law.
Submit a Request
To request access to police reports or records, please complete the Freedom of Information Request Form below or you can download a copy of the FOI Request Form to print and bring to our headquarters.
You will need to include:
- Your full name and date of birth.
- Your address and phone number.
- A description of the records you’re requesting.
- Proof of identification (two pieces of valid government-issued ID, one with a photo).
- $5.00 application fee for requests under MFIPPA.
Payment can be made by cash, debit, credit, or cheque payable to Woodstock Police Service.

We typically respond to requests within 30 days, though complex or third-party requests may take up to 60 days.
Access to Police Records
You must make an FOI request if you are:
- An individual or business seeking a copy of a police report
- A law firm or insurance company requesting police statements, officer notes, photos, or other reports
Law firms and insurers must submit their request in writing and include:
- Date and location of the incident
- Name of involved person(s)
- Description of the records requested
- Signed authorization from your client (dated within the last 6 months)

Identification Requirements
Acceptable forms of photo ID include:
- Driver’s Licence
- Passport
- Ontario Photo Card
- Firearms Licence
- Expired ID, Social Insurance Cards, or non-photo Health Cards will not be accepted.
Youth Records
Records involving young persons are governed by the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Access to these records is restricted and only allowed in specific circumstances or by court order.
