Police Auctions

The Woodstock Police Service regularly seizes property for which the lawful owner cannot be determined or the items are unclaimed. Previously this merchandise was sold off through scheduled auctions held locally.

The Woodstock Police Service, like many other Ontario Police Services are moving our auctions onto a web-based bidding through Police Auctions Canada. Now you can bid from the comfort of your home, and have access to a wider variety of items. As per the Police Services Act of Ontario, the Woodstock Police Service Board may use the proceeds for any purpose that it considers in the public interest.

Found property is held for 90 days, with the exception of bikes which are held for a minimum of 30 days, while the police and Property Management unit attempt to locate and notify owners. Unclaimed property is auctioned, destroyed or donated once the hold period has expired.

Property seized as evidence for court will not be released until all proceedings have been completed for a minimum of 60 days. All other property seized will not be released without the permission of the investigating officer.
