SCAM

The Woodstock Police Service would like to remind the public that police will not call members of the public regarding an arrest warrant via an automated machine, nor would police ask them to transfer funds into an account using Bitcoin. Over the weekend, a Woodstock resident received a call from an unknown male indicating they would be arrested as there were charges attached to their S.I.N. The caller then instructed the victim to transfer funds in Bitcoin to an account.

These types of scams, including CRA scams, are especially common this time of year. Police encourage members of the public to be cautious when giving out personal information over the phone and transferring funds to known callers.
