Museum Square Event

Woodstock, ON (May 30, 2021) – The Woodstock Police Service is investigating a group of approximately 300 assembled at Museum Square on Sunday, May 30, 2021. The investigation remains ongoing at this time with potential charges pending.

As of Thursday, April 8, 2021 in response to the third way of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Ontario declared a state of emergency and province-wide Stay-at-Home order. Current restrictions permit outdoor gatherings of up to five (5) people with physical distancing of 2 metres and wearing a mask or face covering.

The Woodstock Police Service and Woodstock By-Law officers were in the area to monitor the event, keep the peace and to enforce the regulations set out under the EMCPA and ROA. The Woodstock Police Service continues to be committed to safeguarding the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms while at the same time ensuring the safety and security of everyone.

Woodstock residents have been largely compliant with the current restrictions, but police are reminding the public that participation in such events could lead to charges pursuant to the EMCPA and ROA. The stay-at-home order requires individuals to stay at home except for essential purposes
