The Uniform Patrol Unit consists of four platoons that patrol the city, respond to calls for service and engage with the community. Each platoon has one Staff Sergeant, one Patrol Sergeant, 9 Constables and one Cadet. Officers patrol the city in a combination of vehicle, bicycle and foot patrols.
Calls for service range from routine to complex calls around social, civil and criminal issues. Many calls police respond to are not crime related. So, WPS works with community partners in health and social services to address mental health, homelessness, addictions and poverty.
Uniform Patrol officers also assist WPS specialty units with their initiatives and investigations.
